DNB Orthopaedics at Hindu Rao Hospital, Delhi - Institue Review!

This post is contributed by a DNB Ortho resident who shares a general idea about Othopaedics at Hindu Rao, Hospital, Delhi.

1. Academics :

Poor. Classes held only once weekly or even less. 2. Stipend :

1 lakh/month ( not regular, Salary gets credited once in 2-3 months)

3. Hands On :

Free hand is given. But depends on seniors.

By the end of 1st year you will be doing removal of nails/plates, minor procedures and scrubbing into major OTs.

Replacement surgeries not done. Emergency OTs are rarely done.

Most of the trauma/degloving injuries are passed to other hospitals. 4. Accomodation :

Provided but its tough to get into hostel, as only few rooms available and room given in seniority preference.

So u will have to search for accommodation on your own.

You will get decent rooms for rent just outside the hospital. 5. Duty hours :

Decent. Mostly DNBs don't do emergency night duty. They manage Pre OP, OT and Post OPs and wards.

As there are only 2 units so every alternate day is OPD/Emergency day. 6. Case load :

Decent. 7. Units :

2. 8. Hospital :

980 bedded, run by Municipal corporation (North MCD) under central govt. 8 bedded ICU. It has NDMC Medical College attached to it under IP university. Has got other DNBs like OBGY, Medicine, Anaesthesia, Peads, Surgery, Patho, Dermat, Ophthal etc. 10. No Compulsory Bond post DNB 😊 11. Currently there are 2 primary and 2 secondary DNB seats. this year there is proposal to increase the seats to 3 each. stay tuned for seat matrix. 12. Passing rate : Depends on individual person. Ranks who chose this institute last year 8826(OBC), 54383(ST) Choice of institutes in Delhi for DNB Ortho Gangaram>StStephens>Railway>DDU>Hindu Rao
